Speech and language pathologists work with dysfunctions in those systems, as well as other functional issues such as swallowing.
We tend to take all of this for granted until we or a loved one experiences trauma that creates a loss of function, or we have a child who struggles to develop these necessary skills.
- Proper functioning of the muscles in the mouth, larynx and lungs
- Development of speech centers in the brain
- Ability to form sounds correctly
